Today marks 300 days before the Midterm Congressional election. That’s right – we’re nearing the halfway point of the Trump regime, and for many of us, this election will be the first chance we have to voice our disapproval at the ballot box.
But you won’t be heard if you can’t vote.
Last November’s elections proved beyond a doubt that a single vote matters. In Virginia, a race for the House of Delegates was tied, and the winner was determined by a lottery. This one lottery, which could have been prevented by just one more vote, kept the House of Delegates in the control of the GOP.
Your vote matters.
However, the Republicans know that, and they also know there is a substantial edge for Democrats in registered voters. In fact, the Pew Research Center found that 48% of registered voters prefer the Democratic Party while 44% lean Republican – enough to sway many elections. So the Republicans have made it harder – especially for minority and other populations which tend to lean Democratic – to vote in many states.
In Iowa, there is a very strict new photo ID requirement to vote in elections this year. 9 other states have strict photo id requirements. Many others have ID requirements to vote. Now is the time to make sure you have a voting ID, and that your friends and families and neighbors have theirs, too.
In other states, registration deadlines have been moved up and early voting periods shortened. Register to vote today, right now, to ensure you don’t miss any deadlines. Believe it or not, the first primary is less than two months away – there is less time than you think. The last day to register to vote in the Texas Primary is FEBRUARY 5th.
